The Neighborhood Center

 in Camden

We are the Neighborhood Center in the city of Camden a 501(c)3 non-profit that strives to serve the local community by offering Academic, Athletic, and Arts programs for children and teenagers while working to transform our community.

Our vision has not changed much over the years as you can see:

“Ages served are from three through adults, regardless of race or creed. To serve God’s children in a four-fold life is the purpose of being on Kaighn Avenue”

Miss Ruth Flaherty Superintendent, 1953

Four Fold Life: Mind, Body, Spirit and Community

Today, the Neighborhood Center in Camden is positioned for unparreled growth and service to children, teenagers, and parents here in Camden where we are needed everyday. Without our donors, volunteers, and friends none of what you are about to read would have been possible –Thank you!

In 1940 an Appeal from the Neighborhood Center started with this statement which is still true:

“It is better to build a man than a mansion
It is better to build a citizen than a city
It is better to build a soul, than to rule an empire”
