After School Program

After School children5-day-a-week Center program which runs throughout the school year (3:00 pm - 6:00 pm) for children K-6th grade.  Our aim is to present a variety of activities including Bible study, arts, crafts, praise & worship, sports, reading, field trips and a snack daily.  We provide transportation from a variety of Camden schools.  We will be expanding our program to include one-on-one reading, phonics and spelling tutoring based on the Abeka Christian learning program.

We aim to provide a safe, structured environment that is a positive alternative to the negative influences on the city streets during the late afternoon hours.  The program is designed to be well-rounded, addressing the spiritual, mental and physical needs of the child. Program goals are that the children will 1) come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, 2) improve academic performance, 3) develop positive social skills and moral understanding and 4) develop physically as they participate in familiar recreational activities and are introduced to new recreational activities.

Other areas of community partnership include:

Philadelphia Zoo on Wheels-brings animals and teaches children about them.
Camden City Library-provides a reading program for the children once a month
Child Evangelism Fellowship Club-provides Bible teaching to the youth one day a month.  (We also have our own Bible study with the kids.)
Fire Department-provides instruction in fire prevention

After School, Junior Teen, Summer Enrichment Program - In each of these youth programs, a strong emphasis is placed on teaching God's Word and having the youth learn and apply Scripture and victorious living through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  After School children receive a minimum of 78 hours of Bible instruction throughout the school year, Summer Enrichment Program youth receive 30 hours during the 8-week program and Junior Teens participate in devotionals at each meeting and monthly Bible studies during the school year.  The youth in the After School and Junior Teen Programs are also given the opportunity to share what they have learned at our Family Dinner Programs and the Summer Enrichment Program youth at their Closing Ceremony.
